A dead weight tester (DWT) is a pressure measurement instrument that calibrates pressure gauges and other pressure measuring instruments. It uses a pressure balance principle to apply known pressures to a device under test using calibrated weights. The DWT generates pressure by applying a force over an area, which is the definition of pressure (P = F/A)
